Does anyone know if Ford plans on bringing back the GT500 for the new generation Mustang?

Possibly. I think the GT350 is marketed as a track car and from the last gen, the GT500 was a high power cruiser.

Yeah the GT350/GT350R is a direct competitor to the Z/28. I was just curious because I haven’t heard anything about a new GT500 yet.

Technically the GT500 is a Shelby product, not a Ford. Ford/SVT helped with the engineering and distribution, but Shelby actually did/does the conversions. So a new GT500 is sort of up to them, but probably pretty damn likely.
